Every year the Alzheimer’s Society run ‘Elf Day’ to raise funds for people affected by Dementia, therefore Laura Phillips, our administrator, thought it would be a great idea to take part and also to spread some cheer for the residents during this difficult time.
Laura said, “I thought really hard on how we could raise money and came up with the raffle, putting together great prizes and selling as many tickets as I could.”
All the staff came to work dressed as elves and Laura bought a few accessories for the residents to wear for photos. Carol Edwards and June Attwood, our Activities Co-ordinators, played xmas themed games with them and we had xmas music, singing, drew the raffle and the resident enjoyed a lovely buffet tea.
Shelley Turnbull (Manager) said, “it was a lovely afternoon for everybody and all the residents really enjoyed it, especially laughing at us in our elf costumes.”
We raised £581 in total from the raffle and this has been split 50/50 with The Alzheimers Society and the residents amenity fund.
The Community Fundraising Executive from The Alzheimer’s Society, Paula Talbot said, “I love the photo’s you have sent through. It appears that everyone went to a lot of effort in dressing up and it definitely paid off. The raffle looks fantastic too, no wonder it was so well received. You are all totally awesome!! And we truly appreciate your support. I have sent your photo’s onto our Elf Champion for your area and I know she has forwarded them to our Social Media team, so again, thank you.”
